Vitamins // No Notion of Anything Only Whatever Is What

Thursday, April 14th, 2011

I know this video for Colorado’s Vitamins is three months old, but hey, better late than never! Super trippy — as one commenter aptly described it as the “LSD Olympics” — the video matches perfectly with the prog/experiemental rock track. Might be just me, but with Vitamins I get flashes of Ponytail in their music (something which will always be OK with me). You can pre-order the 7” from Hot Congress here.

Two for Tuesday // Vitamins + Incubator (US)

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

It’s been ages since I did one of these two for Tuesday posts… Fortunately, this past month I received two videos in my inbox from two artists who I’ve covered extensively in the past that are sure to jump-start the feature.

The first video is for a Jovian Moons remix of the Vitamins’ track “Sequined Dressed” and it’s pretty much a 3+ minute exercise video on acid. No wonder that I CAN’T TAKE MY EYES OFF IT:

Evidently the vimeo user Marie Blanco loves Adam Anderson’s music just as much as I do because she’s put together another archive.org video set to Anderson’ music, this time it’s his Incubator (US) project. Got to say, the amusement park theme compliments nicely the electronic dreams that “Blanket Fort” induces:

And what the hell, I throw in another video that I’ve enjoy the past couple of weeks. Not surprisingly it comes from the French blog and consistent music taste-makers Delicious Scopitone and it’s for the track “Victory Gin” by Computer Magic. Enjoy!

Vitamins // Liquid Crystals

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

Love the idea behind this video for “Liquid Crystals” by the Denver indie-rock band Vitamins. Unlike most archival music vids you see on the web these days where the song comes first and footage is plucked out of a digital library and paired with the music, “Liquid Crystals” is actually a score composed by the band for Jean Painleve’s 1930′s short film of the same name. Now I’ve seen a couple of these “bands provide the soundtrack to an old obscure movie” things live here in Portland recently, however, none are as polished as this seven-minute arrangement — with the music matching perfectly to the visuals of the film up to the “syncing of the strings whenever liquid flows” as noted by one commenter.

Check out the video above and head on over to the band’s myspace page to listen in on some more of their great stuff (really dig “Sequined Dress”).
