The first video is the official cut for the Swedish percussion duo Wildbirds & Peacedrums track “Bleed Like There Was No Other Flood” (via It’s A Trap). The beautiful visual projections match perfectly with the mysterious, if not all out dark, tone of the chorally-dense song:

Switching gears a bit, this mash-up between Weezy F. Baby and The Office is unbelievable (courtesy of Get Off the Coast). Once you get past the initial shock of hearing the two paired together, you find that the two actually work pretty damn well together:

Although I’ve been a bit mum about them on the blog, I’ve been spinning the blissful lo-fi pop songs of Brooklyn’s Beach Fossils a lot lately. Here’s a stellar video put together by Wooden Lens for their track “Window View” (via Delicious Scopitone):

Behind Sincerely Yours, I would say that Labrador Records is my second favorite Swedish label. They somehow have a knack for finding and signing bands that pump out a great variety of pop songs. The latest music video from one of their artists is this treat by the Mary Onettes entitled “The Night Before the Funeral”:

Nice to see the behemoths over at Pitchfork give some love to PT-Music favorites Memoryhouse. Here is their official music video for their beautiful bedroom pop song “Lately (Deuxieme)” as premiered on p4k’s .tv spin-off:

David Greenwald posted this amazing video on his Rawkblog of Dan Bejar (of Destroyer, New Pornos, Swan Lake fame) acoustically performing “The Freedom”. Take a listen:

The first one is an incredible music video from Sierra-Leonean Janka Nabay. He has an upcoming 12” on one of my favorite labels True Panther entitled Babu King. Here’s the video for the excellent and highly publicized track “Eh Congo”:

At this point, I’m starving for any sort of new National material. Although I’m usually current with any latest developments (even filming a new song myself in Copenhagen), somehow I missed this live footage for another unreleased track called “Blood Buzz Ohio” that was filmed back in August:

The next two videos are so amazing that you can’t believe they are fan produced. The first is “When I’m With You” from a track off of Best Coast‘s impossible to get Black Iris 7” while the second is a take on Memoryhouse‘s “Lately”:

“Our Love Was Saved By Spaceman” is the first single off of The Pipettes forthcoming album. Probably due to all the recent lineup changes, their sound has taken a turn from 50s to 70s inspired. Take a listen for yourself:

Finally, the full video of Casiokids‘s brand spanking new track has finally surfaced. I talked a little about the teaser for “En Vill Hest” earlier this week, and the full cut seems to be just as weird as the 15 second snippet:

I’ll start off with my favorite video posted by, as usual, Chris from GvB. I can’t come up with a better description than what’s given by the the artist’s Belgium label Crammed Discs:

The world has ended. All that’s left is a jungle on a floating rock where a paradise nightclub band is playing at the last cabaret on earth: the Las Vênus Resort Palace Hotel. The singer’s name is Sonja Khalecallon, and her band are Los Stroboscopious Luminous. Sonja Khalecallon is in fact one of the alter egos of Cibelle, the London-based tropical punkster whose take on music is entirely her own and “Lightworks” is her cover of seminal exotica producer and 1950s electronic music pioneer Raymond Scott’s track.

Videographer Ray Concepcioñ never ceases to amaze me. Evidently, I’m not the only one who’s captured by his cinematic talent as The Great Pumpkin included this video on an awesome recent post about Vermont’s folksy female group Mountain Man:

I seriously can’t get enough of this stripped down version of a new track entitled “Little Bright Fires” by West Texans Daniel Fluitt and Colt Miller of Thrift Store Cowboys (who you may remember put out one of my favorite 7”s of ’09). Take a listen for yourself and see how wonderful this song is:

Got to love the genius that is Michel Gondry. Here’s his latest music video for LA’s singer/songwriter Mia Doi Todd track “Open Your Heart”:

Words can’t not describe how pumped I am to check out St. Vincent this weekend when she plays Doug Fir Lounge. She had two great videos crop up this past week (the more official being her video for “Laughing With a Mouth Full of Blood” with Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein’s comic troupe Thunderant), however I prefer the cover of The National’s “Taken for Strangers”:

After hopping the pond for a handful of European dates, New Jersey native Dayve Hawk (aka Memory Tapes) finally got around to playing his first US show when he opened for Atlas Sound at Brooklyn’s Bell House this past week. Here’s a video of his rather nervous performance:

The latest of my weekly post for The Llano Idea centers around the two recent compilation albums that have been getting rave reviews in the press: Dark Was the Night and War Child Presents Heroes. Here is an excerpt from full article which you read here when it comes out tomorrow:

It seems that most philanthropy done these days by the music community is either in the form of mega-benefit concerts or charity compilations. Since the former has been adequately exhausted due to Obama’s campaign trail, independent music listeners will have to settle for a handful of recently released albums featuring a jaw-dropping collection of musicians. The two such pieces that have caught my eye (and no doubt others’ as well) recently have been the Dark Was the Night two-disc set benefiting the Red Hot Organization in their fight against AIDS and the War Child Presents Heroes compilation helping children who live in war-torn regions.

Dark Was the Night is the brainchild of The National’s brother guitarists Aaron and Bryce Dessner whose aim is to use “music as a great vehicle to raise both money and awareness for AIDS.” With a who’s who list of popular “indie” artists that are sure to make any music hipster giddy with joy (Andrew Bird, Beirut, and Spoon to name a few) the album was destined to move a lot of copies with or without the added incentive of helping a good cause. As a much-heralded bonus, artists featured on Dark don’t contribute throwaway tracks and forgettable B-sides but rather songs which would fit nicely on any of their individual “proper” LPs.

Switching gears a little, Heroes features fifteen music industry stalwarts selecting modern day artists to cover one of their songs. Just as compelling as the cover songs themselves are the artists chosen by the living legends, making the album interesting to listen to on multiple levels. For example, Beck’s take on Dylan’s “Leopard Skin Pill Box Hat” is killer – bringing out the bass line and exaggerating the electric guitar interjections – but the image of Bob jamming out to Guero when he’s all alone is absolutely priceless. Some of these selections aren’t too surprising (David Bowie choosing T.V. on the Radio’s after they featured Bowie on “Province” from Return to Cookie Mountain), but others certainly leave you with that WTF feeling. The most egregious of pairing has to be The Clash’s selection of Lily Allen that I am sure lead to some deceased members rolling over in their grave.
