Oregon Bike Trails // High School Lover

Thursday, September 1st, 2011

Two days ago, I was thinking to myself, “hmm, I wonder what one of my favorite labels, Father/Daughter Records, have been up to lately.” Literally, ten minutes later I get an e-mail from them announcing a new 7” from the un-Oregon origin band Oregon Bike Trails. I’ve been waiting for this one for a while since OBT first burst on the scene a couple of months back and was quick to hit the pre-order button on this awesome 7”. Check out the smooth-pop A-side “High School Lover” below (in both audio and video form) and if you dig what you hear, odds are you’ll probably like everything else from the Father/Daughter backlist.

Mutual Benefit + Holy Spirits // Split 12”

Tuesday, May 10th, 2011

Friends of the blog Father/Daughter Records just sent out a release talking about an upcoming 12” split between PT-Music acoustic favorites Mutual Benefit and Brooklyn’s celestial musicians Holy Spirits. This unbelievably limited release (only 250 vinyl copies) is sure to sell out, so be sure to pre-order your copy at F/D’s store here (I know I will!).

If you need more convincing, you can check out a track from each band below (courtesy of Mark at yvynyl and Jheri at Get Off the Coast). Be prepared to be wrapped in a snuggie of warm harmonies and sing-along melodies…

Levek // Second Second

Saturday, February 19th, 2011

A lot of Father/Daughter Records alums have had a lot things “in the works” recently, none more than soulful Floridian David Levesque. Fresh off of releasing one of my favorite 7”s of last year, Levesque (stage name: Levek) is East Coast-in’ it up at the start of March. To coincide with the tour, F/D has unleashed the track “Second Second” — a two-minute island fantasy get-away for your ears — for mass consumption. Check out the track below and FOR THE LOVE OF GOD BUY THE 7” ALREADY!

Levek // “Look on the Brightside”

Thursday, November 11th, 2010

Father Daughter Records just keeps on killin’ it! Their latest signee is Florida’s prolific musician David Levesque, who goes by the more condensed stage name of Levek. The A-side of the upcoming self-titled 7”, “Look on the Brightside” is wrapped around a straight-up Al Green-esque soul groove that is sure to be responsible for a handful of future unplanned pregnancies. Check out the track below and pre-order the 7” from the F/D store here:

Father/Daughter Records

Monday, August 9th, 2010

I’ve been sitting on the upstart Father/Daughter Records for a while now for absolutely no reason and I thought it would be better to expose their awesomeness later rather than never (however, it seems like they really don’t need my help). Started by a pair of music lovers from San Francisco and Miami, the label was created to “bring this long distance family just that much closer.” And that’s exactly what this duo does with their first two releases: Family Trees’ Dream Talkin and Tooth Ache’s Skin — two very intimate bedroom pop 7”s.

What better way to get an idea of what these folks are about than by just checking out the A-sides to both F/D releases below. Also, if you dig what you hear, you can get the label’s latest updates and musing by following their twitter feed here.
