For the past two months I’ve been pretty bogged down with the whole “house buying” process. Now that I’ve closed and are all moved in, I’ll be updating the site on a more regular basis! Stay tuned!

I should be back in Portland tomorrow from my trip to Utah. Until then, [F5] Altered Zones and see what they got brewing over there (and note a certain “Out There” blog).
Sorry guys for the sparsity of posts as of late. I’m right in the thick of things in securing a new job, so once everything pans out in the coming days I’ll be back to posting some great new tunes. Until then, feel free to browse the archives and discover some past gems you might have overlooked!
This past January marked my one year anniversary of running this site (well, taking into consideration my summer hiatus for my thesis, more like 6 months). What started out as a simple section on my personal google sites page while I was overseas for grad. school, PT Music has slowly morphed into a regularly updated assortment of posts with monthly readership in the thousands. While I would by no means classify it as a “successful” blog, the site is a testament on the connectivity of the 21st century and the smallness of the world nowadays.
At this time, I thought I would share some of the more popular things about the site over the past year in a nice little “in a nutshell” post.
Most Popular Concert Videos:
1st // Casiokids Live at Roskilde in 2008 (12,772 views)
2nd // New Song from The National (11,458 views)
3rd // MGMT performing “Weekend Wars” Live at Roskilde 2008 (7,719 views)
A bit surprising when I went to check the stats on my flickr page, but the most viewed concert photos by far were some terribly grainy shots I took at a Tegan and Sara show almost two years ago. Most likely due to getting picked up by some fan forum, it’s nevertheless still sad to see some of my better photo sets be dwarfed in comparison. Oh well!
Most popular Concert Photos:
1st // Tegan & Sara Live in Copenhagen (1,267 views)
2nd // Wavves Live in Munich (206 views)
3rd // Neko Case Live in Munich (64 views)
Most Popular Posts:
1st // PT Music’s Top 41 Albums of 2009 (1,526 page views)
2nd // Keyboard Sample Pad (1,322 page views)
3rd // Guest List: Burgers’s Top 30 Songs of 2009 (862 page views)
The next section I have no solid numbers on, but based on page views of track reviews as well as the number of referenced sites, I think I can gauge roughly which mp3s had the most downloads:
Most Popular mp3 Download:
1st // Moonface: Dreamland EP
Well that does it for the concise recap of the past year or so. Here’s to a musically prosperous 2010!!
Although British Airlines tried to put a kink in my plans, it looks like I will in fact be able to visit my future in-laws in Aberdeen, Scotland this Christmas. As a result, PT Music will be running on fumes the next couple of days and will be on a one week break starting around New Year’s Eve. (Note: The break might be longer if I get hit in the face with a giant fireball during my New Year’s celebration). Anyways, have a happy holidays and I’ll catch you back on a more regular basis come 2010!
Just to let everyone know I’ve finished up with my studies and now I am getting back on track with listening to good tunes and going to good shows. I caught Ponytail not too long ago in my hometown of Lubbock, Texas and plan on seeing Mika Miko in the coming days — so prepare to see some stuff about that in the coming days. Until then, enjoy some Moderat tunes that I have spinning quite a lot lately and covered recently in The Llano Idea:
As the deadline for my thesis is nearing, I’m going to have to go dark on the website for a while. The due date is set for May 1, so after that, be prepared for some new material. I have a handful of older material from artists you love, some mp3s from up and comers that I just can’t get enough of, and also a slew of concerts in my final weeks here in Germany. So to pass the time during during my absence, check out some of the superb blogs on the right and be sure to visit The Llano Idea for my weekly column!
See you in May!
Well, I think I finally reached the point in my Masters studies that I get to say the phrase “I have no free time”. I’m in the process of finishing up my thesis and I’ll need to be working long hours the next month and a half to get it completed. As a result, the frequency of updates on PTM will be changing from daily to a handful a week in order to accommodate my new schedule. However, once May roles around and I’m done defending, I’ll be sure to get back to the daily routines and implement some improvements I’ve been thinking about for a while. So until then, be sure to check out my weekly column for The Llano Idea and I look forward to the summertime!
If you might recall, recently I talked about the shutdown of KTXT 88.1-FM and the almost immediate online emergence of The Llano Idea. Well the good folks down at LI liked my writing enough to offer me a position for blogging with them. As a result, I will be doing (at least) a weekly post with them every Friday. Odds are, this will cut back on my writing on this site a little bit, but I will still be bringing (almost) daily posts of everything from mp3 downloads of new songs to live show reviews — continuing with Crystal Antlers tomorrow!
So if you want more of my writing, you can head over to The Llano Idea’s website and look for anything written by UnclePhil. Long live Fresh Prince.
